Fighting her way through the wind and rain, Alice walked up the pathway leading to the front doors of Xavier's school for gifted youngsters. Pausing at the door, she thought about the events of the past few days. After the argument with her mother over her 'gift', Alice had run away from home, and, hearing about her fathers, Charles Xavier's, 'school', she had decided to check it out. How would her father react to finding out he had a daughter? Would he know who she was? Just as these thoughts were racing through Alice's head, a voice was heard from behind the door, she froze as it opened, light shining onto her rain-soaked face. She coughed and smiled. 'Err hi... I... I'm Alice.'

"I know." Comes the soft, smooth voice. "Please Alice, do come in."
Charles Xavier was a kind man. He backs up the wheelchair he uses to allow Alice to enter.
"Come to the group room." He beckons her, wheeling his way down the seemingly endless corridor. "There is plenty of room here, don't worry, everyone is special here."
He pauses and turns his head to look at Alice.
"You'll fit in just fine. And don't worry, I can answer any questions you might have about... Well, lets just say... Recent events?" He winks, then continues down the corridor.
"There are plenty of empty rooms on the third floor Alice. Find one to suit you,"
And with that he disappears round the corner, leaving Alice alone in the cavernous mansion.
