Lucas walks out the door after his third class, he couldnt take it anymore. The multitudes of powers all welling up inside him. He couldnt handle the mind reading ability, he didnt want. Luckily part of his abilities meant that the mind readers couldnt get into his thoughts. Something about his powers rebounded the person so that they couldnt hear anything but their own thoughts. Lucas felt less alone but he still hadnt told anyone what he could do. He felt it would be too weird to tell people he could fly like they could or control the metal of the desks like the one boy a few rows in front of him. There were kids who could control all sorts of things from electricity to water to fire and ice. All of these powers stored inside Lucas and he just needed a break.
He took a seat away from the buildings under a tall oak tree. He leaned his head against the tree and closed his eyes. This was the most at peace he had been all day. He wondered how long this could last.

Hearing someone move their chair, Alice looks round to see a boy she had never seen before walk out of class. There was something about him she couldn't quite put her finger on, but he seemed different. Everyone else at the school was at home here. Many hung around in large groups, shouting and laughing, telling stories. Even the quiet ones had their own groups.
But not this boy. She didn't even know his name and this was the third class she'd spent with him. Excusing herself from the class, Alice went looking for him. It seemed to take forever to find him, searchinge every room, wondering the grounds outside the manor, but eventually she found him sitting under the big oak in the rear gardens.
Alice stopped about 30 meters from the tree, watching the boy. Building up the courage, she put on the biggest smile she could and walked toward him.
"Hi, you're new here aren't you? I'm Alice"

Lucas kept his eyes closed for a bit longer, untill he felt the presence. He realized he was no longer alone, he did his very best to decipher what this mutants powers were but he couldnt. Which could be dangerous for him because he has know idea what he is capable of. A scary thought for anyone.
He took a deep breath to gain some control over all of his body and opened his eyes. He saw a girl around his age, she had big smile on here face. She seemed kind, and was the first person who had spoken to Lucas all day.
"Hi...y...yes, Im Lucas. This is my first day here" He jumped to his feet as he said this "Pleased to meet you" he extended his hand to her.
Could this kind face actually be a friend or just someone else who wouldnt understand his fear of his own power. Either way he was about to find out really quickly because whatever her powers were they were beginning to grow stronger in him.

Alice took Lucas' hand and shook it.
"Welcome to Mutant High." She said warmly, then sat in the spot Lucas was sitting when she found him and patted the ground next to her, motioning him to join her. "So whats your deal then? Run-away? Parents couldn't cope with what you are?" Then her expression turned thoughful and she looked him in the eye. "What exactly are you anyway?"
Alice then looked away, debating whether to tell him about her teleportation, force-fields and shapeshifting.

Lucas smiled as he shook her hand, and sat down next to her by the tree. His hand was shaking, nervous he would explode with whatever power she had. He was breathing deep trying to keep a fake calm about him. "Parents think I'm at a prestigious prep school!" He laughs as he is saying this. "I guess technically it is true, not the prep school they would want me to be at but doesnt make it untrue." He let his mind wander to think about what his parents would be up to at this time at day. Dad would just be getting home from work and Mom would have some food ready for him. When they finish dinner, they would head to the meeting. A meeting to figure out how to banish mutants from this world. Banish me, their own son from this world. This thought enrages Lucas to the point that he loses control and (BANG) he is gone.
The next second Lucas is standing on the branch right above where he was just sitting. The branch gives under his weight and he goes tumbling back to the earth. He outstretches his arms to brace for impact and a white field releases from his hands breaking the fall. He moans in pain as he finally hits the ground. And without even lifting his head, he says "Guess that answers my next question of what can you do?" he laughes and then lays on ground. Deemed motionless by embarrassment.

Alice jumps, she isn't expecting Lucas to disappear. Scanning the horizon, she wonders where he is. Suddenly, Alice hears the sound of snapping wood and leaps out the way. Turning round, she sees Lucus suspended within a whitish glow, then land.
Stunned, Alice stares at him. Her expression slowly changes, a smile creeps its way across her face. She then starts laughing. "You could have just asked." She gasps between giggles.
"Come on," she says, turning to leave. "We have to get to the next class. The Professor hates it when we're late."

Lucas pushes up off the ground, "Trust me I'd rather have asked" he says as he rubs his forehead, luckily he wasn't hurt but he easily could of. "I need to be more careful" he thought to himself as he started to walk behind Alice. "Yeah you're right he does. So what's your story? How did you get here?" he asked with a simple smile

Alice stops dead in her tracks, eyes fixed on the ground by her feet. Not sure what to say, she keeps her gaze for a few seconds, then turns to face Lucas.
"I ran away. Two of the older students here found me, the Professor took me in." Alice mumbles quietly. "No one's ever asked me about it before. It was just my mum and me. Dad was like me, but he was killed when I was little. If mum knew..." Alice shakes her head sadly. "Lets just say it's better she thinks I'm dead too."
Alice starts walking again. Head down, she doesn't want Lucas to see the tears in her eyes. During the walk to class, Alice doesn't raise her gaze or utter a word to Lucas, just walks in silence.

Lucas stopped right behind her and then looks her in the eye as she tells him about her past. He follows as she begins the walk back to class. He stays silent for most of it. He feels bad about asking the question it seems to have really affected her. He imagines that wasnt easy for her to stay and he understands secrets better than anyone, "I'm sorry." He says quietly and then proceeds to follow her quietly to class.

They get to the doors to the classroom. Alice places a hand on the door, looks at Lucas and sighs. "It's not your fault. You weren't to know." Then she smiles at him and opens the door a crack. "See you in there." She says with a cheeky smily, then disappears.
Inside the classroom, Alice sits at her desk, looking around her. What secrets were the other students hiding? Noticing the Professor had stopped talking, Alice looked round.
"Is anything the matter Alice?" He asked.
"No Professor, sorry, I'm fine." She said quickly.

Lucas took a seat a few rows behind Alice. He listened intently as the professor continued his lecture. Lucas wanted to think more about Alice and the story she had just told him but he couldn't without chancing having another accident like he did outside. He continued to focus feeling all of the different powers mulling up inside of him. This was going to be a long year if he couldnt figure out how to control this ability.

Looking behind her, Alice catches sight of Lucas. She smiles at him.
"It's okay." She whispers and turns back to the Professor, only taking her eyes off him to jot down notes.
After the lesson ends, Alice stands in the hallway outside the classroom, waiting for Lucas to come out. Her stomach flutters. She has never told anyone her past before, not even in the 3 years she has been here. Alice is certain stories like hers are common events in a place like this, and thinks about what she is going to say to Lucas about it.

While he is teaching, Charles Xavier senses something isn't right. Scanning the room, he spots a new guy in his class. He sends a message to the lad telepathically.
"Hello." The message says, his voice ringing in the boys mind. "I am Charles Xavier." A smile crosses his lips. "Would you mind staying behind after class for a chat? I don't believe we have been properly introduced."
And with that, he blinks his eyes and the connection is broken. Looking around, the Professor notices the class looking at him oddly. Smiling he apologises and continues with the lesson as if nothing has happened, while the class give each other uneasy glances.

Lucas saw Alice turn and tell him it was okay. He relaxed a bit but just as a sense of relaxation set in a new one of fear set in. He could hear a mans voice, the professors voice in his own head. He was confused but he nodded at the mans question. Looking around the room to see if anyone else had noticed. He assumed they hadnt and just looked down at his notes for the rest of class. When they were dismissed he sat in his seat, waiting for the rest of class to exit the room.
As the room cleared out, Lucas threw his bag over his shoulder and walked over the professor xavier. Hello sir. You wanted to see me

Facing the window, Charles smiles.
"Hello Lucas, You're scared about your abilities aren't you?" He turns his wheelchair round so he is facing Lucas. "Don't worry, there's a couple of students here with abilities similar to yours. They could help you control them." He pauses so Lucas can take this all in;
"If there are any questions you would like answered..." He begins, wheeling himself across the room toward the open door, then he pauses, connects with Lucas' mind. "...My door is always open." And with that, he leaves, noticing Alice standing outside.
"Good afternoon, Miss Thorne." He smiles at her and continues down the corridor.
